Introducing New Interactive Educational Modules for Pediatric Transplant Infectious Diseases!

PIDS is excited to announce that we have recently posted 12 additional pediatric transplant infectious diseases interactive educational modules developed as a part of a collaborative effort between the PIDS Education Committee and the American Society of Transplantation ID Community of Practice Pediatrics Working Group. There are now a total of 20 educational modules that will help pediatric infectious diseases providers to enhance their knowledge and comfort in managing challenging infectious considerations in transplant patients.

The modules can be found under education and training on the PIDS website. The interactive modules focus on relevant topics encountered in pediatric transplant infectious diseases. A few of these topics include:

  • Management of cytomegalovirus in the immunocompromised host
  • Invasive fungal infection in a solid organ transplant recipient
  • Vaccination recommendations prior to transplantation

The user will be able to follow a case scenario through a number of questions that will help direct the evaluation and management of the infectious considerations for the transplant patient. Educational points follow each answer, and a final teaching summary is utilized to highlight the most important take-home messages.

We greatly appreciate the tremendous contributions from all of the authors across the US and Canada that were involved in creating these educational modules. We are pleased to offer these modules for our PIDS members.
