In October, Merck announced that they would not resume production of monovalent MMR vaccines. PIDS sent a letter opposing this plan in the summer and we were told that our letter was an important factor in the reversal of Merck’s previous position.

PIDS sent letters opposing the following federal legislation under consideration: H.R. 2618 (Vaccine Safety and Public Confidence Assurance Act of 2009, proposed by Representatives Maloney and Smith,) and H.R. 3069 (Comprehensive Study of Vaccinated and Unvaccinated Populations Act of 2009, proposed by Representatives Maloney, Smith, Gordon, Burton, Langevin, Brown-Waite, Napolitano and Kennedy.)

PIDS has nominated two members to sit on the National Vaccine Advisory Committee.
