IDSA/SHEA Infection Control Fellows Course is Now Available

The Infectious Diseases Society of America and the Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America have developed an online course in infection control that will soon be launched. The online course features lessons on epidemiology and infection control given by world-renowned faculty from various specialties. It is geared toward first- and second-year fellows in infectious diseases training programs.

The course is designed to help ID training programs cope with the ever-increasing requirements for graduate medical education by providing a way for directors to ensure that their fellows are getting the basics in infection control. The course will be an ideal way for trainees to get the infection control background that every specialist needs, at their own pace and without having to travel.

Although the course is geared toward fellows in adult infectious diseases training programs, much of the content is relevant to pediatrics. The Pediatric Infectious Diseases Society has arranged a 50 percent discount to pediatric ID training programs, bringing the cost down to $125 per fellow. Students will receive a certificate of completion when they finish the course. Training program directors who enroll their fellows in the course can request final scores for the trainees whom they registered.
